Vasilis Tampakas is Professor in the Department of Computer and Informatics Engineering, Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece. He is also the director of DISyD Research Lab (Distributed Intelligent Systems and Data). His research interests include Distributed Systems and Algorithms, Parallel and Distributed Information Retrieval, Data Mining, Machine Learning Algorithms and Big Data Analytics. He has extensively published in major international journals and conferences. For this research, he has received more than 1200 citations.  He is the author of 3 books in Greek. He has extended professional experience (over 20 years) in Data Base Design, Design and Analysis of Distributed Algorithms and Data Analytics. He has participated in numerous National and EU R&D projects.
