style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Vallier has been Secretary General of the Council of European\u00a0 Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) since 1 February 2010.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expert in European and international affairs at the local and regional levels and\u00a0 city diplomacy, he has over twenty-five years of experience working with local and\u00a0 regional authorities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Secretary General of CEMR, he campaigns for the full recognition of local and\u00a0 regional governments as strategic partners of the European project and calls for a\u00a0 Europe closer to its citizens and their first levels of democracy. He also represents\u00a0 European Local Governments in the Global Task Force of Local and Regional\u00a0 Governments and United Cities and Local Governments to the United Nations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Vallier holds an Executive Master\u2019s Degree in public management from\u00a0 Science Po Paris.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He is a member of the Multi-Stakeholder Platform of the European Commission on\u00a0 the Implementation of the SDGs in the EU.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), created in 1951, is the\u00a0 broadest association of local and regional authorities in Europe.
