The Mayor of Chalki, Mr. Evangelos Frangakis, born on September 12, 1974, is originally from the island της Chalki. His parents were also born και raised on the island της Chalki. He completed primary και part της secondary education on the island της Chalki και graduated from Lyceum της Rhodes. After his acceptance, he graduated from the University της Chalkida (Department της Technological και Mechanical Περιβάλλοντος) as a mechanical engineer. His love και passion for the common good και with the aim της helping his fellow citizens he later joined the Greek Police Force. From 1999 to 2006 he served in the Exarcheia police station. In the process, he served for almost ten years as a personal guard και close partner to the Member της Parliament for the Dodecanese, Minister της Health και Professor της Cardiology, Dimitrios Kremastinos. He dealt with the public sector in 2019, when he founded the party “Love και Vision for the Island της Chalki και Alimia” which led to his election as  Mayor της Chalki Island a few months later. At the same time he is also the president της the Development Agency της the Dodecanese SA. The main objectives της the development agency were defined as the basic principles της rural development which relate to economic και environmental sustainability. the promotion της the knowledge society as a structural element της innovative entrepreneurship, extroversion, employment και social cohesion. His love for the island της Chalki και sports is reflected in practice long before the 2019 elections. Since 2006, the year της the establishment της the Sports Association, he has supported all efforts as a coach, και then as head της the Football Academy. These efforts led to the implementation της the construction project της the stadium of the AS Chalki  football team. One της his favorite interests is literature and poetry και particularly he is inspired by the epic της “Odyssey” by the author Nikos Kazantzakis. His vision, is to make the place where he was born και raised, a prototype model island της creativity,  sustainability και innovation. The enthusiastic vision and all the efforts made until now, led the Greek Government on the 5th της November 2021 to inaugurate the island της Chalki as the first GR-Eco Island in Greece.
