He is an attorney-at-law, with postgraduate studies at Harvard University Law School.
He has worked for more than two decades as a legal advisor in the private sector, specialized in corporate law and capital markets, both in Washington D.C. and Athens.
He was appointed as Head of the Prime Minister’s Office of European Affairs and International Relations and served as chief negotiator with the creditors of the Greek state in 2012-2015.
He was elected President of the Student Organization of the European People’s Party (EDS), a founding member of the Youth of the European People’s Party (YEPP) and a member of the Political Council of the European People’s Party.
He was born on 23 July 1967, to Nikos and Fani Papastavrou. He is married to Mari Agaliotou and has two children, Nikolas and Fenia.
