Dr. Fivos Papadimitriou

Αssociate researcher, University of Tübingen

Athens University of Economics and Business (ReSEES Lab) and AE4RIA Network Among the foremost important contributions of Dr.Dr. Fivos Papadimitriou to science are innovative mathematical methods and models (analytic, topological, algebraic, algorithmic, probabilistic) for spatial and land use/landscape research. His formulas have universal applicability, as they can be used to analyse any maps, landscapes, satellite images, photographs, paintings or 3d objects. For this reason, they are cited in publications presenting field research that were carried out from tropics and deserts to Tibet and Antarctica, as well as in papers of engineering, electronics, medical diagnostics, AI and quantum computing. With university  teaching and research experience exceeding thirty years in total, he is currently a member of the boards of five high-quality (Q1,Q2) international peer-reviewed scientific journals of geography and mathematics and has received awards, research fellowships, distinctions, honorary appointments and invitations from universities, academies of sciences, national and international organizations. Fivos Papadimitriou (BSc Athens, MSc Athens, Med Patras, MSc Paris, PhD University of Budapest, PhD University of Oxford) is the author of the books “Spatial Complexity: Theory, Mathematical Methods and Applications”, “Spatial Entropy and  Landscape Analysis”, “Modelling Landscape Dynamics: Determinism, Stochasticity and Complexity”, “Geo-Topology: Theory, Models and Applications” and “Spatial Artificial Intelligence” (all monographs, published by Springer)
