Kelly Benetatou has been working in the field of Economics in Competition Law for the last 18 years. She has been working as case handler in Hellenic Competition Commission since 2004. Prior to her appointment as General Director of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (August 2022), she held the position of Vice President – Member of the Board of the Hellenic Competition Commission (since September 2019). Prior to the latter appointment, she served as Head of Unit (2009-2011, 2019) and as Head of A΄Directorate of Economics of the Directorate General of Competition (2011-2019) and the Advocacy Department. She holds a PhD degree in Economics, from the Department of Economics of the Athens University of Economics and Business and an MSc degree of Economic Sciences from the Department of Economics of the Athens University of Economics and Business. During 1998-2004, she has been working as the Head of the Budgeting & Reporting Department in a commercial and industrial group of companies; and in 1998 as a researcher in projects relevant to competition. Her research areas focus on theoretical and applied Industrial Organisation, as well as on economics in competition law enforcement and policy. She has participated in numerous conferences and workshops (in Greece and international) relevant to competition economics and law.
