Alexandros Karakitsios
Research economist at the Bank of Greece

Alexandros Karakitsios is a research economist at the Bank of Greece. He has worked as an economist/case handler at the Hellenic Competition Commission and as Scientific Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Prof. P. Tsakloglou. He has also worked as an economist at the Council of Economic Advisors in the Ministry of Finance and as a Technical Consultant of the World Bank providing technical assistance to the Greek Government for the implementation of the Social Solidarity Income scheme. He has participated in several research programs in the Athens University of Economics and Business, the Politecnico di Milano, the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and the Institute of Labour of the General Workers’ Confederation (INE-GSEE). He holds a PhD on Labour Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business (PhD thesis title: “The impact of minimum wages on earnings, employment and poverty”) and an MSc on International and European Economics.
