Dr. Christos Yapijakis, DMD,MS,PhD, is Associate Professor of Genetics and Member of the Bioethics Committee at the School of Medicine of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, Director of Cephalogenetics, Advisory Board Member of the Research Laboratory of Applied Philosophy at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, and Leading Founding Member of the Epicurean “Garden of Athens”. His area of research and expertise is genetics of inherited neurological diseases and syndromes of the head. In addition, he has made contributions in philosophy of science proposing Scientific Humanism and in history of medicine by conducting the first ancient DNA research in Greece when he uncovered the responsible pathogen of the Plague of Classical Athens, the first historically documented pandemic. He has written five books and about two hundred scientific articles.
