Iasonas Fotilas was born in Patras and is a Lawyer with a BSc from Sapienza Università di Roma and an MSc in Digital Innovation and Management from the University of Patras, School of Economic Science and Management.

He is the Chairman of the Special Standing Committee on Research and Innovation of the Hellenic Parliament, member of the Standing Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs, member of the Committee on Armaments Programmes and Contracts and member of the Committee of Educational Affairs. He is also a member of the Special Standing Committee on Hellenism in the Diaspora. He was also a member of the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry into the investigation of the Tembes affair.
He has served as a chairman of the Special Standing Committee on the Penitentiary System, secretary of the Standing Committee of Social Affairs, member of the Standing Committee on Public Administration, Public Order and Justice, member of the Special Standing Committee on Prison System and chairman of the Greek-Romanian Friendship Committee. Today he also serves as a member of the Greek – Israel Friendship Committee.
He is a member of the Greek Parliament since 2015
