Thanasis Kontogeorgis
Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister 

Thanasis Kontogeorgis is the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, since June 2023. His main areas of responsibility cover the monitoring, evaluation and coordination of the government’s work and reform program, as well as the preparation of the Consolidated Government Plan. He  served  for four years as Secretary General for the Coordination of the Government, having as main responsibilities the planning and coordination of the government actions for the implementation of key policies, including crisis management, the European Enhanced Surveillance Program, the reform part of the National Resilience and Recovery Plan “Greece 2.0”, the National Reform Plan, the Regional Development Plans, national horizontal plans for the economic and social development, as well as the annual preparation of the Consolidated Government Plan. During the economic adjustment programmes, until 2014, he served as Adviser to the Greek Government, providing support to the Office of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, the Ministry of Culture and the General Secretariat of the Government, while he actively participated in the negotiations between the government and the European Commission, IMF and ECB. He is a lawyer at the Supreme Court and the Council of State. He graduated from Athens College and the Law School of the University of Athens and holds a master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from Harvard University (Master in Public Policy-Harvard Kennedy School of Government). He is married and has two children.
