Vasilios Gkizas was born in 1973 and grew up in Nafpaktos.

He studied Law at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens.  He graduated in 1996 and completed his postgraduate studies (Master of Labor Law) in the Department of Private Law, also in National Kapodistrian University of Athens.

As a lawyer at the Supreme Court he handled various cases, among which, cases of Municipalities and Legal Entities under Public Law.

He was first elected Mayor of Nafpaktia in the elections of 2019 and re-elected in 2023.

He speaks English and German.
