Dr. Zefi Dimadama was appointed as Secretary-General for Equality and Human Rights in July of 2023. She also teaches as a Special Lecturer at the Department of International, European and Regional Studies at Panteion University, holds a PhD and a Master’s Degree in the scientific field of “Regional Economic Development and Environmental Policies”.
She has served as Director General of the International Centre for Black Sea Studies and has a significant presence in International Forums and scientific contribution to research activities in the field of economy and sustainable development, gender equality and human rights. She has served as Vice President of Women of PESWOMEN and headed on behalf of the Women of the EPP the Women’s Network on Climate Change and the Environment. She is President of the Athens Branch of the Union of Women of Greece (UWG) and former Vice President of the Political Association of Women.
She is active internationally in research and academic collaborations related to Sustainable Development with emphasis on the integration of the 17 UN Goals and the achievement of Goal 5 on gender equality and women’s empowerment. She is the author of two monographs “Economy, Development, Environment. Theoretical Approaches and Policies for Sustainable Development” (Papazisis Publications 2008), and & “Sustainable Economic Development. Integrating the 17 UN Goals. Economic and Environmental Dimensions” (Papazisis Publications, 2021) and participates in individual and collective scientific papers in Greek and international publications.
