Dimitris Bourantonis is the General Secretary for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.  He is a Professor of International and European Studies at the Athens University of Economics and Business and a former Rector of the same institution (2020-2024). Is former holder of a Jean Monnet Chair (2015–2018). He holds degrees from the University of Athens (Departments of Political Science and Public Administration, and Law) and a PhD from the University of Reading. His research focuses on international and European institutions, European diplomacy and  foreign policy. He has published extensively, including three monographs and numerous articles in leading international journals.
