Georgia Mega

Tutor, Hellenic Open University & a primary year’s teacher (PYP), Athens College Elementary

Dr. Georgia Mega is a tutor at Hellenic Open University and a primary year’s teacher (PYP), at Athens College Elementary. She was Head deputy of Athens College Elementary (2010-2022) and Primary Years Programme Coordinator (PYP-International Baccalaureate I.B., 2019-2022).  Her master’s degree (University of Crete, Greece 1992) in Pedagogy, has been focused on methodology of research, statistics, and Comparative Pedagogic.  In her PhD (University of Crete 2002), she studied the role of Arts in Teaching Literature and specially how Arts can promote critical thinking.  

She has a scientific interest in arts as a mean for developing critical/creative thinking. She has long-standing experience as teacher, trainer, instructor, coordinator and writer in Training Educational Programmes of the following Educational Institutions: Ministry of Education: Major Training Program (2011), Grundtvig/European Programme Education and Culture DG: Artit: Development of innovative methods of training the trainees (2009), Athens College:Teachers Training Teachers (2010-2024). scientific books of the field:  Mega, G (2020). Her last research interest focuses on the importance of art street in the way of learning and thinking critically: Mega, G. (2022) “Graffiti as a lever for critical awareness: a contemporary application of Freire’s pedagogical program” Scientific Association for Adult Education, Adult Education Critical issuesVol.2 (2022) July December p.p.66-85.  Her participation as a lecturer in international conferences (2023-2004) has as a central objective the promotion of art as a means for learning in a meaningful way for the students’ benefit.
