Sofia Roboli

Greek sign language interpreter

Sofia Roboli is a Greek sign language interpreter and a member of the interpreters’ association since 1996. She completed her studies at the National Foundation for the Deaf and in 1997 was the first interpreter on a private channel with nationwide reach (SKAI, ALPHA) where she presented the special deaf bulletin. However, for the last 13 years she has been providing access through sign language interpretation to the station’s main news bulletin and to all news programs on ALPHA Web Tv.

In early 2023, she achieved her goal of ensuring equal access for the deaf to simultaneous information and established the presence of an interpreter on all ALPHA news bulletins and live news programs.

She was the first interpreter of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2004 Paralympic Games, where since then, NG interpreting has been established as a prerequisite for presenting the Olympic Games in every country.

She specializes in educational, medical and judicial interpreting in collaboration with the Hellenic Federation of the Deaf. In addition, for 25 years she has been the exclusive interpreter of the Hellenic Theatre of the Deaf and has performed accessible performances at the Herodion, National and Municipal Theatres of Piraeus and the House of Letters and Arts, etc.

She is also a graduate of Child Psychology and Clinical Psychology, while she has also been trained in the synthetic therapeutic model, synthetic couple therapy and parent counseling.
