Mr. Sofoklis Yiannacou was born in Athens and has lived in Frankfurt, Germany. He studied Financial & Banking Management at the University of Piraeus.  He holds a Μaster’s degree in Finance, Accounting & Tax law from Athens University of Economics and Business. He is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant in the United Kingdom (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants-ACCA).

He has worked for the Geniki Bank of Greece (Societe Generale) in the Dealing Room and also in the shipping industry during his studies.  He then worked for KPMG (1996-2006) as Senior Manager in the areas of Strategy, Corporate Finance and Merger & Acquisitions.  He then moved to British American Group (2006-2009) where he held the titles of Financial Accounting and Tax Manager and Marketing Finance Manager.  He joined AB Vassilopoulos in 2009 as Group Finance Director and was immediately promoted to CFO.  For the next 5 years he was promoted to the role of SVP Finance / Chief Financial Officer for Southeast Europe being responsible for Greece, Serbia, Romania and Albania. 

He held the position of Chair of the Board of Directors of AB Vassilopoulos until the end of 2023 while he is also a member for 15 years of the Executive Committee and SVP Finance / Chief Financial Officer. 

Mr Yiannacou is also a member of the Board of Directors of Public Retail Group where he also holds the position of the Chair of the Audit Committee.  He is also member of the Board of Directors of the American Hellenic Chamber of Commerce.  He is also leading a consulting firm specializing in M&A, strategy and business planning.
