Vasilios Gkizas was born in 1973 and raised in Nafpaktos. He studied Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, from which he graduated in 1996. He then completed his postgraduate studies (LL.M.) in Labor Law at the Department of Private Law of the same university.

As a lawyer admitted before the Supreme Court of Greece, he has handled a broad range of legal cases, with a particular focus on matters involving Local Government Authorities and Legal Entities under Public Law.

He was first elected Mayor of Nafpaktia in 2019 and was re-elected for a second consecutive term in 2023.

He is fluent in English and German.
