Sinos Giokas is Professor of Evolutionary Ecology at the Department of Biology of the University of Patras. His research is focused on the interplay between ecological and evolutionary processes. Specifically, his research interests embrace the study of 1) the evolutionary ecology of terrestrial animals, focusing in phylogeography and speciation and diversification processes as also the evolution of morphological, ecological, behavioral and physiological traits and adaptations and 2) the  biodiversity patterns of insular, mainland and urban assemblages and the processes shaping them.
