Georgios Kapogiannis

Visiting Professor in Digital Construction and Port Information Modelling at the Ningbo Institute for Supply Chain Management | MIT Global Scale in China

Georgios Kapogiannis, PhD, is an internationally recognised, results-driven thought leader (TL) with expertise in collaborative culture and project management in the built environment research, digital transformation, design of integrated information systems and TL strategy and content authorship (digital built environment). 

He currently serves as a Visiting Professor in Digital Construction and Port Information Modelling at the Ningbo Institute for Supply Chain Management | MIT Global Scale in China. Throughout his career, 

Georgios has been a transformational leader in the broader built environment and IT industry. This includes his prior international experience at Nottingham University (China Campus), Anglia Ruskin University (UK), Hellenic Ministry of Education and Religion Affairs (GR) and more. 

Georgios holds a PhD in Construction and Project Management from The University of Salford (UK) with scholarship from EU/CoSpaces Project. In addition, he holds a certificate in Digital Technologies for Government from the University at Albany – SUNY (USA), a certificate in Mobile Business from Athens University of Business and Economics (GR), a graduate certificate in Mathematics from University of Jyvaskyla (FIN). He is also a certified Project Manager (PRINCE2 and PMI) and is accredited trainer from BRE (UK) in ISO19650 and is a member of the peer review college of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC/EPSRC/EU) since 2015 (after invitation). 

Further to this, he served as the Chairman for the CIOB for Coventry and Warwickshire and was a co – founder and member of the UK BIM Alliance – BIM Region East in 2016.

 His expertise and leadership are recognized through his continued thought leadership efforts, including his position as academic notably among others: University of Cambridge, University of Manchester, University of Warwick and University of College London (UCL) over the last decade. 

In addition, he acted as a Visiting Professor in MIS at the University of Northern Iowa (USA). Moreover, Georgio’s work has been recognized and published in world international leading Journals, Books, Digital & Media Platforms and Conferences. 

During his career won several prestigious National and International Awards and Prizes related to Innovation in Construction and was recognized for his contribution in Zhejiang Province, China (2021) with the Prize of “Cultural Ambassador” during COVID-19 period.
