Ioannis Maghiros is Head of the Human Capital and Employment unit of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. The unit he leads supports policy-making in the areas of education and training, skills and competences, the changing nature of work and implication for the European welfare state. He has been working for the European Commission since 1990 on various research activities in the scientific area of the Digital Transformation of society and the economy. His research interests focus on the life-long learning of people to make the best of their potential in the digital age. Before joining the European Commission, he worked for IBM in Athens. He studied Physics at the University of Patras and Information Science at the University of Birmingham.
