Vagelis Papadakis

Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Patras

Prof. Vagelis G. Papadakis holds a diploma in Chemical Engineering (1986) from the University of Patras, Greece, and a Ph.D. on the subject of reaction engineering and concrete carbonation from the same institution (1990). He has a 30-year experience on scientific, demonstration and development projects (33 projects in total) on various fields of technology, authored many papers (60), presentations (90 in International and 70 in Greek Conferences) and awarded by the American Concrete Institute. He worked as a Researcher at the Danish Technological Institute, Building Technology Division (1997-1999) on sustainability of constructions (Marie Curie Grant). He was head of R&D Laboratory of TITAN Cement S.A., Greece (1999-2000). He served as R&D Consultant, Patras Science Park S.A. (2003-2012) on innovation and regional development, enterprise incubators, creation and growth of clusters, etc. He was the National Representative, FP7, European Committee, Specific programme CAPACITIES “Research for the benefit of SMEs”, Expert Evaluator of Research Programmes: CIP-EIP ECO-INNOVATION of European Commission, FWO Belgium, Qatar QNRF, Greek GSRT, etc. At the present, he is Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Patras, where he is teaching the courses of “Unit Operations”, “Plant Design and Economics”, and “Environmental Impact Issues”, and, in parallel, is a Coach (SME Instrument- H2020, Horizon Europe) in the field of development, promotion and exploitation of Innovation.
