Regional Growth Conference 2021
Educational activities
Convinced that volunteering is a driving force of society at large and that youth is its most dynamic part, the Regional Growth Conference enables dozens of young people to take part in the RGC experience by participating in the largest event on Regional Development.
At RGC 2021, which took place from 3 to 5 June in Patras at Achaia Clauss, we’ve gone a step further. In cooperation with the University of Patras and the University Peloponnese, we organised free educational activities aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students who would also be the conference’s volunteers.
In specific, the RGC together with the following departments: Biology, Department of Business Administration of Food And Agricultural Enterprises, Environmental Engineering and Tourism Management of the University of Patras, organised a three-day Summer Workshop. The Workshop topics include linking the agri-food sector, tourism and the environment to regional development. The Summer Workshop has been designed to offer an interdisciplinary approach to the above topics through lectures, presentations and group work.
Furthermore, in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of the Peloponnese, the RGC organised for the 2nd year a Summer School on “Intelligent System Technologies and Services”. The first days of the 6-day long Summer School held online, while from 3 to 5 June it hosted at Achaia Clauss, in parallel with the Conference.
Apart from participating in educational activities, at the RGC 2021 students had the opportunity to meet important personalities from Greece and abroad, and attend speeches, sessions and interviews. With their presence at the venue and their hands-on participation in the Conference works, students was the key part of its organisation.
RGC 2021 innovates, embracing new trends in science, in collaboration with the country’s universities. Over the three days of the Conference, the participating students had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of various scientific fields and draw on the know-how of the participating professors from the Universities of Patras and the Peloponnese.
